While iPhones and iPads are not yet universally supported by NOREX members, their adoption is growing, and so are the challenges these devices cause for IT management.
Common concerns among participants of the recent NOREX iPhone/iPad WebForum include security, network connectivity, support of personally owned devices, content filtering, etc. The consensus is that iPads are good for email and PDF viewing but would not be a viable replacement for laptops. Adobe Flash is not compatible, for example, and document creation is troublesome. Many organizations that allow iPads indicate they do so because of the personal usage attributes rather than any significant corporate benefit, at least not yet.
