International Roundtable: San Diego, California

An Early Bird Golf outing will be held Sunday afternoon at the Riverwalk Golf Club which is adjacent to the Town & Country Resort. The cost is $65 which includes cart, and golfers will pay individually at the course. Please indicate your interest on the registration form.

Focus Session: Implementing a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
VDI offers the potential of lower costs and improved productivity but there are challenges to implementing the environment. During this session, Guy Smallwood, Principal Technical Engineer at MIB will share his VDI experiences and recommendations.

Off-Site Dining & Entertainment – Members and Spouses
It’s all hands on deck tonight aboard the USS Midway!  Relive nearly 50 years of military history, exploring the longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century.  NOREX will provide “mess” on the hanger deck along with access to the flight deck which features more than 25 restored aircraft.  Buses will depart the hotel at 5:30.

Roundtable Cost

The cost for the Roundtable, three breakfasts, three lunches, the spouse program, and the three evening functions for the attendee and spouse is covered by your membership. Attendees pay travel, hotel, recreation, and other expenses.

Hotel

The Roundtable will be held at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center, 500 Hotel Circle North, San Diego, CA 92108, phone (619) 291-7131, fax (619) 294-5957.  This multiple Gold Key and Premium Circle award winning hotel is unlike any other; a unique and complete California resort and convention complex, known for its’ charm and personality.

Rooms are $149.00 for single or double  occupancy, an excellent value considering high-speed Internet access and your conference food expenses are included - daily snacks/beverages, three breakfasts, three lunches, and two evening dinners.  Spouse/guest attendees also receive the aforementioned and the option to participate in the Spouse Program at no additional charge. After Friday, March 9, 2012, hotel reservations cannot be guaranteed, since rooms are limited.  Check-in time is at 3:00 p.m.; checkout time is at 11:00 a.m.  The hotel requires notification of room cancellation 72 hours before the day of arrival or the guest will be charged for one night’s lodging.

You can make your hotel reservation using the hotel link that will be provided during the Roundtable registration process, or you can make your reservation by calling the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center directly at (619) 291-7131, or toll free at 1 (800) 772-8527.  When calling, you must identify yourself as being a part of the NOREX International Roundtable.

The hotel is seven miles from the San Diego International Airport.  A cab from the airport to the hotel costs approximately $25.00.  Should you prefer using a super shuttle, be sure to ask for the Cloud Nine Shuttle Service which is under contract with the Town and Country Resort.  The contracted fare is $11.00 one way. You can also book the service ahead of time online.  Contact the hotel’s concierge to obtain car rentals.

Parking

Parking at the hotel is plentiful and is available at a 50% discount - $8.00 per day, for hotel & local guests

Roundtables: Business or casual business attire. Evening functions: Casual attire (jacket or sweater)

Please join us for a special introduction by the Wild Life Company to a variety of creatures that reside in the Rainforest, ranging from bugs, to birds, to snakes.  There will be ample time to learn, touch, and raise questions regarding each and every treasured creature.

Spouse Program:  Off-site Shopping Excursion – Fashion Valley Shopping Mall
Come along for a short walk to explore the nearby Fashion Valley Shopping Mall, a beautiful outdoor shopping center.  In addition to the mall’s five department stores, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom’s, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and JC Penney, there are many fine specialty stores.  It also hosts numerous restaurants and 12 bistro cafes.
