During the recent Windows 7 Rollout WebForum members received advice on running older applications on Windows 7 and on using Internet Explorer with Citrix.
Mitch A.: Judy, the other thing that I have found, when we get some of our older apps that were kind of funky, we had an instance where I had a user that still wanted to run an old DOS-based app. By going in, for example, and changing the video drivers from whatever they were for the exact machine to generic VGA, we were able to get the old DOS apps to even run, and we are running 64.
Judy F.: Oh, really? That is a handy tip.
Mitch A.: Yes. So, dumbing-down the video sometimes works. The other thing is, if you do a lot of Citrix, we find that the IE 9 puts the prompts and everything on the bottom of the screen, as opposed to the top, and does other things. If you are using Citrix for a webpage front-end, which we do for our ASP apps, it does not play well in IE 9. So, we did not go beyond Internet Explorer 8. We have been rolled out since probably February of this year.
Judy F.: Oh, really. OK
